Education and career
Yves Gabriel graduated from Ponts et Chaussées, an elite engineering school, and joined the Bouygues group in 1976.
Starting his career as a works engineer at the Paris area branch of Screg (roads division), he subsequently became head of sector and director of a regional branch office.
In 1985 he created Screg Bâtiment, where he was Chief Operating Officer until 1992. From 1989 to 1992 he was also Executive Vice-President of Bouygues' industrial construction division and Chairman of Ballestrero.
From 1992 to 1996 he was Chief Operating Officer of the Screg group, French roads group.
In November 1996, he joined the Saur group as Chief Operating Officer in charge of operations in France and the merger with Cise, acquired from Saint Gobain.
His responsibilities within the Saur group were extended in April 1999, and in June 2000 he was made Chief Executive Officer.
In September 2002, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of Bouygues Construction and member of the Bouygues Board of Directors.
Bouygues Construction has leading positions in three business sectors: building, civil works and electricity/maintenance.
With operations worldwide, it has 52,599 employees and reported sales of €9.5 billion in 2009, of which 44% was generated on international markets.
